Telangana government bans spitting in public areas amidst coronavirus outbreak

Amidst the rapid coronavirus outbreak in the country, the State government of Telangana has put a ban on spitting of paan, any chewable tobacco products or non-tobacco products and sputum at public places and institutions. This order was made on the 8th of April and has come into force with immediate effect.

This vital step has been taken in the interest of the health and safety of the public and also to abridge the practices that may contribute to the spread of novel coronavirus.

 

While the Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare gave the above order, it was also pointed out that the habit of spitting in public poses a serious threat and may lead to the spread of such viruses and other infections.

The focus was also made on the strong need for the importance of hygiene and cleanliness in both the personal spheres as well as the public sphere.
