This season cannot be said to be the last season of the series. Although there is no book remaining to get inspiration for the storyline, as a successful series, another season is quite possible. Yet no official confirmations have been made yet. And showrunner had teased the audience with some kind of “Master Plan” which was made before the season 1 launch that if the series is a success it may be possible that more seasons will follow after season 3 even after the 3 books.
The announcements of the season 3 release of Mr. Mercedes came right after the Season 2 finale hit the screen on October 24, 2018. Even an approximate release date was also predicted that day. Now it is confirmed.
